Wrong words

Our words are basically the sum total of our thought processes. They represent our intentions and desires. How often do we feel the need to make our words sound more apt and suitable to the context in which they are being used? Sometimes I roll back to think about some words that I used while talking to some people to explain a particular thing.

Expression of self

Written and verbal communication are two ways of self expression. When we speak or share information, we reflect a part of ourselves to the listener/s. They could be attentive or non-attentive. Not everyone would bother to decode our body gestures to truly get what what we are saying or the circumstances which leads us to talk about something. People generally tend to hear out a person only in partial ways and what happens is that some pieces of that conversation will eventually travel to a third person through the second person.

It is not in our hands if the listener expresses our words just the way we desired them to appear.  It is an area beyond the control of an individual because different people process different things differently. But it certainly makes us feel low if people misinterpret our true intention because we (they) fail to convey our thoughts appropriately. The first step to get rid of this habit is to know where we fail.

How do we present ourselves to others?

A confident looking person could carry out daily interactions with minimal damage. It is the self belief factor that plays a vital role in determining how we appear to others. When we have inner confidence, we would not overthink about the possible consequences of our talks and it certainly brings a better flow of information into our narrative. When we are low in confidence, we fumble for words and it reduces the impact of our narrative and sometimes lowers our self esteem. We often blame ourselves for putting us in  uncomfortable situations and the end result is that we do not use the best version of ourselves when we present ourselves, in written and verbal form.

How does it feel if we are a pale shadow of what we really are when approaching something? The very thought that we are not doing it right but others are doing it easily could be a vulnerable realisation to our minds.

But the beauty of the mind is that it can give us hints or show us the way if we tirelessly keep probing. A confident and sound mind is that perfect aide that can resolve our negativity and genuine concerns. It isn't that easy to switch to a different mode if you are a shy person with self doubting nature. There is no need to completely revamp ourselves to the new changes and if we treat this process slowly and steadily, there is a possibility that it could deliver us better results. The key point is to feel the need for change so that we can be better than what we are right now. This is the belief that pulls us to generate power. It is an often repeated statement but an argument worth relooking that we have unutilised and tremendous powers waiting for our push. Why not we give it a chance!
