The dear departed

Separations are of different types. Some are mutual, some are forced and some just happens with time. Some of us may leave our parents for education or jobs. We at times may miss spending quality time with them. It is incorrect to say we are totally away from them. Because we have the chance to make a return. But, you indeed get to experience the feeling of abandonment a little bit.
Every separation is not kind though. We may have to say a permanent goodbye to some people forever. People that hold a special place inside us. It can tear us physically and mentally. Some of us may have gone through long, sleepless nights, beholding the memories of the departed. There was a special girl in my life. A girl with an infectious smile. She was Renu, a ten-year-old kid. She could bring out the child in me. We become attached in a short period. We spent several memories. I remember everything. Especially, the day she hugged me and made an announcement in front of the schoolchildren. "He is mine and you are not gonna take him away." She is not with us anymore.
Renu was right. After she left, I could never love anyone the same way. Our relationship lasted for only one year. But its seeds had grown deeper inside. I hear people say, they talk to their dear departed ones. Some of us make tributes to our loved ones. I too had done something for Renu. Why do we do this? To make them happy or to satisfy our broken heart? Whichever the reason could be, it felt better. I could listen to what people thought of Renu and understand her a little more. Any detailing about your favourite person could make us feel a lot better. Just a personal opinion though!
Missing someone
Sometimes, it feels terrible to miss him/her. When you achieve something, when you go through a hard phase, you think about that person. They are not with us anymore. But we wish we could see them and spend time with them. Because they cared for us and we loved them too. Reality tells us that they can't return. Do you need to let them go? May I ask, could you? My answer is, if you can't, it's okay not to. It's fine to let them live through us.
