ഉയരങ്ങളുടെ കൊടുമുടിയിൽ നിൽക്കുമ്പോഴും എളിമ വിടാതെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്ന, ഓരോ ചുവടുവെയ്പ്പിലും നമ്മളെ അത്ഭുതപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന ചില മനുഷ്യരുണ്ട്. എ ആർ റഹ്‌മാൻ എന്ന സംഗീതജ്ഞൻ കൈവെയ്ക്കാത്ത മേഖലകൾ ഇല്ല എന്നുതന്നെ പറയാം. മൂന്ന് പതിറ്റാണ്ട് കാലമായി തുടർന്നുപോകുന്ന സിനിമാസംഗീതജീവിതത്തിൽ  അദ്ദേഹത്തിനെത്തേടി ദേശീയ/രാജ്യാന്തര അംഗീകാരങ്ങൾ പലതും വന്നു. അവയെ സ്നേഹത്തോടെ സ്വീകരിച്ചശേഷം റഹ്‌മാൻ തൻ്റെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട തൊഴിൽ തുടർന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. നേട്ടങ്ങളിൽ മതിമറക്കുന്ന റഹ്‌മാനെ ഒരിക്കലും കാണാൻ കഴിയില്ല.  സ്വതവേ മിതഭാഷിയായ ഒരു വ്യക്തിയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം. പ്രശസ്ത interviewer കരൺ താപ്പർ ഒരിക്കൽ പറഞ്ഞു "റഹ്‌മാനെ  ഇന്റർവ്യൂ ചെയ്യാനാണ് ഏറ്റവും പ്രയാസം. ഒരു മൂളലിനപ്പുറം പല ചോദ്യങ്ങൾക്കും ഉത്തരം കിട്ടാറില്ല. ധാരാളം റീടേക്കുകൾ പോകേണ്ടിവന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. എൻ്റെ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം എന്തുത്തരമാണ് നൽകിയത് എന്ന് മനസിലാകാതെ ഇരുന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്." പൊതുവെ പറഞ്ഞാൽ ബഹിർമുഖരുടെ ലോകമാണ് മീഡിയ, എന്റർറ്റെയിന്മെന്റ് വ്യവസായങ്ങൾ. പുതിയ ബന്ധങ്ങൾ  സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നവരുടെ, തൻ്റെ നേട്ടങ്ങൾ ഇരട്ടിയായി അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നവരുടെ ഒരു പ്രപഞ...

Even when you are told to respect people as flawless, history gives us opportunities to reflect on that person and reinstate a proven fact - no individual is complete.  We are taught to respect Gandhi right from childhood days. I too grew up as a kid, listening to the stories of him during my school days. There is a Malayalam poem 'Ente Gurunathan' aka My Guru by Vallathol Narayana Menon about why he admires Gandhi. In my teenage days, I read Gandhi's autobiography. I was moved by his simplicity in life. Wearing a loincloth, travelling in third class compartments and the idea that he will move up if poor people in the country can do so was an eye-opener. Later I realised that Congress party, in fact, had to spend a lot of money to keep Gandhi's simplicity intact. Apart from the content, the pace with which you deliver also matters to the organisation. A journalist needs to have an eye for detail. The events you attend, people you meet, things you see can possibly get your story.
